Eric Tech , Chief Executive Officer

Eric Tech is the Chief Executive Officer of XL Fleet, responsible for leading the Company as it drives the fleet industry’s transition to electrification and sustainable transportation.

Eric has nearly 35 years of automotive and mobility industry experience and has held senior leadership positions at Navistar International Corporation and Ford Motor Company. He most recently served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Navistar, a publicly traded global manufacturer and marketer of medium and heavy-duty vehicles and parts.

Among other accomplishments spanning his 15-year career at Navistar, Eric successfully developed the blueprint for Navistar’s strategic direction and further global expansion, including executing on transformational growth opportunities, identifying potential global alliances, and driving profitability. At Ford, Eric held senior level positions including Chief Engineer for Super Duty Trucks, where he managed nearly $2 billion in new product programs, and led various product development, efficiency and cost saving initiatives.

A native of Detroit, Eric holds a BSME and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Christian Fong, President of Spruce Power

Christian Fong is the CEO of Spruce Power and president of XL Fleet. At its acquisition, Spruce Power was the largest privately held residential solar owner/operator in North America, with over $1 billion distributed generation (DG) assets. Since 2018, Fong was the chairman and CEO of Spruce Holdings and grew the company by 150% prior to it being acquired by XL Fleet in 2022.

Christian joined Spruce Power in 2017 as an independent director, chosen by Spruce’s then-controlling investors Kleiner Perkins and Google Ventures. Christian has also served as an independent director on the boards of Terraform Power, Inc the world’s largest public independent renewable power producer, Pardus Oil & Gas, and Javlin Capital, LLC. In 2010, Christian co-founded Renewable Energy Trust Capital (RET). He served in various finance and operation executive roles through 2016, as RET acquired and developed over one billion dollars of wind and solar PV assets, representing 400+ MW of utility-scale, renewable power plants. RET was sold to Blue Mountain Capital in 2016.

Previously, Christian was a managing director and head of Real Estate Capital Markets at AEGON / Transamerica, where he led an acquisition team in a multi-billion dollar private equity platform and was responsible for both credit and structured finance innovations. Additionally, he served as CEO of Corridor Recovery, Inc, and as a consultant at McKinsey & Company. He continues to be active in policy discussions in the power and energy sector.

Christian earned an MBA with High Distinction from Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business, a B.S. in Statistics, summa cum laude, from Creighton University and the prestigious CFA and CCIM designations. He and his family reside near Denver, Colorado.

Don Klein, Chief Financial Officer

Don is the Chief Financial Officer of XL Fleet, responsible for the Company’s finance and accounting function. Don has more than 25 years of public company finance and accounting experience. Prior to joining XL Fleet, Don served as Chief Financial Officer of Power Solutions International Inc. (“Power Solutions”), a publicly traded company and leader in the design, engineering and manufacture of a broad range of advanced, emission-certified engines and power systems. He joined Power Solutions in 2018 and has held various senior leadership positions including Principal Accounting Officer and most recently, Chief Financial Officer.

Previously, he served as Assistant Corporate Controller at Littelfuse, Inc., a publicly traded company and global manufacturer of leading technologies in circuit protection, power control and sensing. Prior to that, from 2008 to 2017, Don served in various positions of increasing responsibility within finance and accounting, including as Assistant Corporate Controller, at then publicly traded Navistar International Corporation, a global manufacturer of commercial and military trucks, school buses, diesel engines and provider of service parts for trucks and diesel engines. Prior to Navistar, he worked for then publicly traded Hewitt Associates as Manager of External Reporting and at Ernst & Young LLP as a senior manager of assurance and advisory services. Don earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree, majoring in accounting, from the University of Wisconsin and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Stacey Constas , General Counsel

Stacey serves as General Counsel, responsible for legal and compliance functions across the company. She joined XL Fleet after a lengthy tenure at Standex International Corporation (NYSE: SXI), a global diversified manufacturer, where she was General Counsel of the Electronics Group, a $200mm segment of Standex. At Standex, she had broad areas of responsibility leading M&A, governance, litigation, complex commercial relationships, and employment and labor. A Boston native, Stacey earned her B.A. from Boston College and her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law.

Mike Kenhard , CTO & General Manager, Drivetrain

Mike is XL Fleet’s CTO and VP of Engineering, responsible for leading the company’s product development efforts and optimizing its engineering and IT infrastructure to drive innovation and growth. Prior to joining XL, Mike was President of IAV, an automotive engineering firm specializing in building electrified powertrains that could scale to meet the needs of major OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. Previously, he was Director of Engineering at AVL Powertrain Engineering, where he led all aspects of design, analysis, development, systems, calibration, controls and certification for AVL’s powertrain engineering programs. He has also served in leadership and engineering roles for OEMs and Tier 1s including Ford and Denso. Mike holds an ME degree from Kingston University in London.

Colleen Calhoun , VP/ General Manger of XL Grid

Colleen Calhoun serves as the Vice President and General Manager of the Company’s XL Grid division, which provides commercial and municipal fleet customers with charging infrastructure, energy storage and power solutions for fleets, and advances XL Fleet’s Electrification as a Service Offering. Colleen is a clean energy executive who spent over two decades at General Electric in senior leadership roles across its energy, power and finance businesses.

Colleen spent twenty-five years at GE across several roles at the company including head of GE Energy Ventures, leader of Marketing & Strategy for GE’s Power & Water business and head of the Global Growth Markets platform for Energy Financial Services. Colleen was a senior member of the team that launched Current, powered by GE, a leading provider of energy efficiency and digital productivity solutions for commercial buildings and cities, where she served as the Chief Marketing Officer and head of Business Development and was instrumental in the divesture of the business from GE in 2019. Most recently, Colleen has been an advisor to Commonwealth Fusion, Quaise Inc. and several other corporations while helping them grow and scale their energy-focused businesses. She is a member of the Board of Directors for Quaise, Inc. and the Clean Energy Trust.

Colleen earned her bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Sandra Ponichtera, VP of People

Sandra serves as the Vice President of People, with responsibility for all People and Human Resources functions for XL Fleet. She joins XL Fleet with over 25 years of deep HR leadership experience across diverse industries, company sizes, and corporate cultures. She brings a passion for providing comprehensive strategic Human Resources leadership and excels at partnering with executive leadership teams in building a compelling employee experience and corporate brand. Her prior roles include Vice President of Human Resources with Liberty Mutual and Fidelity Investments, as well as Head of Compensation, Benefits & Systems within the biotechnology industry. She also served in numerous Sr. HR Business Consultant roles across Consumer Goods, Durable Goods, IT Consulting, and a start-up biotechnology company. Sandra earned her B.A. from Dartmouth College.

Mark Wight , VP of Corporate Strategy

Mark Wight is the Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Product Management and is also responsible for XL Fleet’s marketing and communications. Mark works closely with the leadership team to interpret macro trends of energy and fleet decarbonization and translate these into actionable business plans to drive growth. Mark spent 26 years with GE in various energy-related strategic marketing, commercial and operations roles and most recently led business research operations and product management excellence at GE’s Global Research Center before joining XL Fleet in 2021.

Mark has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University, an MS in Environmental Engineering from SUNY Buffalo and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
